Autism Services
Our Philosophy and Methodology
From a behavior-analytic perspective, autism is a syndrome of behavioral excesses and deficits. Every behavioral aspect of autism is addressed using interventions based on the scientifically validated principles of applied behavior analysis. We focus on the development of language and other foundational skills, and are committed to intervention methods shown to be effective in the literature.
We use a wide variety of other proven instructional methods, including errorless learning, discrete trial teaching, prompting, prompt-fading, and fluency training. Our programs maintain a high level of positive reinforcement to keep learning fun and motivating.
Services
We provide a wide range of applied behavior
analysis services and supports to individuals with autism and other developmental
disabilities in Northeast Tennessee. We also work with families, educators, and other caregivers.
Services Include:
- Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS)
- One-to-one behavior therapy
- Social and play skills training
- Verbal behavior
- Treatment of a wide range of problem behaviors
- Developing and supervising home- and center-based educational programs
- Consulting with teachers and other school personnel
- Assisting with IEP development
- Parent training
- Therapists training
- Workshops
- Email and phone consultation between workshops
Curriculum
We consider each child as a unique individual. Our programs are highly individualized. ABLLS is used as our curriculum guide. Skills are taught in the following areas:

Additional Services
Program/Facility Design
Behavior Solutions offers support to agencies who want to structure treatment environments that promote success for persons with behavioral challenges. Utilizing a whole system approach, agencies are taught to integrate proactive behavioral interventions, data collection, risk level systems, environmental alert systems, and crisis management procedures into a seamless, integrated structure. When these systems are working together, the guesswork is reduced and the goal of proactive treatment is more readily obtained.
Workshops
Behavior Solutions offers staff training at your location. Training materials are tailored to the specific needs of your agency. In addition, unique issues specific to the population served are incorporated into the training. One to two day training seminars are provided in the following areas:
- Basic Behavior Analysis and Treatment Approaches*
- System Approaches to Proactive Behavior Support*
- Crisis Management Certification Training (using the Professional Crisis Management Association format) – 3 day training
*Optional follow-up
mentoring is offered to assist agencies in putting
recommended strategies into practice.
